Arundel Town Council letter to SDNPA re: Judicial Review
On 31st July, Mayor of Arundel, Councillor Lucy Ashworth, wrote to the Chair of the SDNPA, Mrs Margaret Paren.
Here is the text the letter:
Dear Mrs Paren
At an extraordinary meeting of the Arundel Town Council on 25 July 2018 Councillors resolved that, based on the information currently available, the Council wishes to support and endorse the motion passed by Arun District Council on 18 July 2018 regarding the recommendation that has been reached in respect of the preferred route for the A27 Arundel Bypass.
Consequently, Arundel Town Council also requests that the South Downs National Park Authority should cease pursuing a judicial review of the Highways England’s decision to recommend to the Department of Transport modified route 5a as the preferred route for the A27 Arundel Bypass. Instead, the Town Council urges the South Downs National Park Authority to work constructively with the duly elected and affected local authorities to deliver, for the wider benefit of the local economy, the environment quality and traffic flow improvements that will follow throughout West Sussex coastal and South Downs National Park areas at the earliest deliverable moment.
Councillor Mrs Lucy Ashworth
Mayor of Arundel
