Highways England Progress Report
Highways England are currently conducting a range of surveys and assessment work to provide information about:
traffic volumes
local environment, including the scheduled monuments of Tortington Priory and Arundel Castle and the South Downs National Park
the impact of the growing local economy and further development along the West Sussex Coastal Plain on the A27 at Arundel
environmental issues such as air quality
ancient woodland areas and how different options might impact these
This information will help HE explore different design options that would meet the aims they have for this scheme.
They are beginning discussions with local authorities, technical stakeholders and organisations with which they are legally required to consult such as Natural England.
This will allow HE
to take into account their views.
What next?
Once HE have worked up viable options, they will publish them and consult publicly. They hope to do this in summer 2017.
